I have enjoyed music my entire life, beginning formal piano lessons at age 7. I received further training at Western Washington University and the NW Conservatory of Music and have been teaching piano for 25 years in both private and group settings. I enjoy playing piano for my church and working with various children’s and women’s ministries.
In searching for a more creative and inspiring curriculum, I became a certified Simply Music teacher over 10 years ago. I now offer piano classes for children through senior adults that allow anyone to start playing great sounding pieces right away. My goal is to enable my students to have music as a companion for life and will explore with them various musical styles and develop their creativity through simple and fun improvisation projects. Once a student has a broad musical foundation, the more formal aspects of music training and music reading will be developed in a natural way through a multi-sensory intervallic/landmark approach.
What Students are Saying…
“Gail is so good with the kids! They just light up when they see her. She is understanding and doesn’t get impatient. If something isn’t understood or seems hard, she doesn’t stop…she just finds another way to explain it that works for that child.” –VB
“I enjoy practicing piano and going to lessons for the first time in my life… I have tried beginning piano many times in the past, but this is the first time I have ever tried exploring things on the piano, actually ‘playing” the piano for myself. Gail is patient and gives positive instructions on ways to be successful. She provides a very comfortable setting for adult learners! –SG
“My child is always engaged and loves to practice as it is very rewarding to be able to play great sounding songs right away! Gail is very passionate about piano and the Simply Music method and teaches her students with kindness and compassion.” –NC
